OK it's official. Even though we haven't talked to anyone we are listed as one of the performers on the Donkey Show. I'll list more info as I get it.

I love how people consider KC a small town. :-) Why have I not met you yet? When did you move here? Were you at IF or HullaballU?

Ya, I think we do all eventually meet each other, just takes a while. I've not, nor do I know what IF or HullaballU is. If it involves, drumming, dancing or fire, I need to know!

OH DUDE MAN!!! Spend some time running around the midwest burners website. InterFuse is our yearly compression party. People come from all over the country. HullaballU is our decompression party usually held in October. You should join the midwest burner yahoo group. Thats prolly the best way to learn about whats going on.

I thought you lived in BFE out by leavenworth or lansing? Or was it just the wierd hours from your job that I thought you were hard to get in touch with? Anyways, welcome to the neighborhood. I live off 49th street about 10 blocks south of KU Med.

I moved to the area early last year. Lived in BFE until then. Actually, I think it was north of BFE. ;) Thanks for the welcome... Btw, we had a robbery here Sunday. :( Watch out for people casing the neighborhood. The creeps stole my silver rings so I'll be browsing your merchandise soon I hope!!

Oh hey, something I've been thinking about ever since your sword dance at the October show. Siham tells me that you learned your sword dancing from your husband and that's why it is so powerful, since he actually knows how to fight. Any chance either of you or both might do a sword dance workshop this year at Lilies? I think that would be so fantastic! Something to think about.

I think I did a sword class last year but I would be happy to do another one. Maybe I can talk Jemira into teaching one. She's been dancing with a sword much longer than me. My husband did show me some moves on handling the sword. I use a lot of real sword cuts in the beginning of my routine. He doesn't think it looks good when dancers use it as a prop. The idea is to handle the sword like a real sword. I've heard so many teachers say that but noone explained it to me as well as he did. The secret is to actually do real sword cuts not just hold it like it has a sharp edge but to swing it like you are trying to cut someone down. Then once I put it on my head that's pretty much my own invention except for some of the moves I stole from Jivete.

I'm already looking forward to Lilies. I will probably start hounding people about teaching classes in the upcoming months.

I don't know about classes, but on the subject of Lillies prep: I thought about seeing if its possible to get a permit for Pierre to use his amplifier on site. They wouldn't let him last year and the drums would drown out his guitar. Anyone know how to reach him?

I have his number. There are people who are against any kind of amplifiers because it ruins the medieval feel. I personally think as long as you can't see it then why not. I think the best thing to do is ask the autocrats to allow amps as long as they arent to loud and out of site. Nakano is making me a Davul. I can't wait to get it. Ever since I played Munlik's last year I've wanted one. Now I just have to save up for a Psaltry. Those are fun too. I talked to the merchantocrat about a ME encampment near the class tent and at the time he thought there would be room. So we could maybe have a ME encampment too.

That would be so cool! I'm getting excited about Lilies now too. Sad that its only December!

Any advice on buying a sword? All I really know now is edge balanced. Maybe someone will be selling them at Purple Camel. :)

Well, it was an amazing dance. I wonder if I know Jemira. I've met alot of people, keeping names straight is tricky. I guess for me, just learning how to do sword cuts properly would be a lesson in itself. I'm actually even looking forward to the dance expo this year. ;) Can't believe how freaked out I was about that last year!
