Has some guy named Larry asked to be your friend and then proceeded to make verbal advances? There is nothing wrong with that but it appears that he has been going through my friends list and hitting on a number of my friends. Even going as far to write that I suggested they hook up. And that does bother me. I have had 2 people complain to me that he has been creepy toward them. I know he seemed a bit friendly when I agreed to be his friend but when I mentioned my husband he never said anything again that seemed like a come-on. So just for the record, I do not know this man or anything about him. I've taken him off my friends list and if your having a problem with him you should too.

Re: Some Guy Named Larry
Fri, December 8, 2006 - 8:07 PMWhere's he from? Could it be that Brian guy (using a different name) from California that was causing trouble some months ago? -

Re: Some Guy Named Larry
Fri, December 8, 2006 - 8:14 PMA search for "Larry" shows 716 tribe members using that name (that doesn't count me, apparently). Any info as to which one to watch for? -

Re: Some Guy Named Larry Evans
Fri, December 8, 2006 - 8:56 PMI'm sorry Anmiere. I forgot about you. A totally different Larry. This one is Larry Evans on his profile and is an art therapist. I don't care if some guy wants to try and hook up with chicks on tribe. Although I think there are better places for that kind of thing. I just don't want him using my name to do it. Plus my friends think I know him and therefore except him on thier friends list and then the next thing they know he's wanting to be friends with benefits. Or saying stuff like I reccomended him to them. I added his supposed last name to the subject line. Besides most people just think your "amazing" or "the" since that's what shows up on your picture. See you at KK. -

Re: Some Guy Named Larry Evans
Sun, December 10, 2006 - 7:15 PMI got an invite from him about the same time you did. Looked like he was going through all the belly dancers in town asking to be their "friend." And one of his interests listed was erotic photography. That's fine and all ... but he just struck me as creepy, so I didn't network with him. -

Re: Some Guy Named Larry Evans
Mon, December 11, 2006 - 3:42 PMWhen he asked me to be his friend he had like 2 people on his friends list and belonged to 3 tribes and I figured he was just trying to get into the swing of things by asking people in his home town. When I looked at his profile I didn't see anything that had to do with erotica or to indicate he was looking to hook-up. I have it stated in plain views that I'm married and if anyone bothers to look at my profile it states very clearly that I'm not looking to hookup. I didn't dream he would tell my friends that I referred them to him. That's when I got pissed. -

Re: Some Guy Named Larry Evans
Tue, December 12, 2006 - 8:47 AMThanks for the warning! I got a friend invite from him, accepted, and then got what I felt was a solicitation for financial help and intros to other "interested" dancers. It felt very weird but I sorta ignored it. After reading your post, I immediately got him outta my friends!

Re: Some Guy Named Larry Evans
Tue, December 12, 2006 - 4:55 PMOkay--so it's not just me that's confused ---This guy sent me an email that had personal things like mentioning which coffee shop I hang out at and he ask How is my artwork going? ---( I don't even think most friends of mine on tribe know that I'm an artist or where I get my coffee.) I thought maybe I'd met him, or gave him a business card or something and forgot --- But now I know I'm not just confused --- it has happened to alot of people. Thanks for the information. -

Tue, December 12, 2006 - 6:53 PMThat's scary. How did he know about the artwork and coffee shop?

Re: Some Guy Named Larry
Mon, December 11, 2006 - 8:20 PMSounds like Larry needs to move to MySuck... that's just plain creepy.
Honestly, I don't have to deal with this the same way you lovely ladies do because my plumbing is different, and I'm quite a bit more transparent than most with my blog. I have, however, made heavy use of the "friends only" feature, and would HIGHLY recommend it for any female in an on-line setting such as tribe.
The world is just too freaky, and believe me; it doesn't take a great amount of intelligence or research to convert paltry pieces of on-line information into what you need to become a bona-fide stalker in flesh space. Think it's creepy in your inbox? Try the front porch!

Re: Some Guy Named Larry
Tue, December 26, 2006 - 6:42 AMHey-I just got a friend invite from a guy I don't recognize. He is listed as Dr. Larry-and I can't for the life of me see why he picked me. There are several people I recognize on his friends list (Jemera, Jivette, Mouse, Qasar). If he is okay please let me know...

Re: Some Guy Named Larry
Tue, December 26, 2006 - 2:33 PMThat's the one. One of his hobbies is erotic photography. Wants to be friends with every belly dancer around. I declined him twice. Don't know why he asked me a second time. Is there some way to totally block people on this site? Gotta go look. -

Re: Some Guy Named Larry
Wed, December 27, 2006 - 10:23 AMNOW I'm offended!!!!! I'm a bellydancer!! He doesn't want to take MY picture!! If we just knew where he lived, we could just go over there and pose for him ourselves......
HHHMMMMMMM, I wonder if he would be kind enough to post his location for us?? We could just go over there as a group and have a Hafla right there in his yard!! He could get plenty of pictures then!!
Maybe I could ask some of my "friends" to help me find him, It would be fun to SURPRISE him!! (And easy enough to do)

Re: Some Guy Named Larry
Wed, December 27, 2006 - 2:40 PMNow how do you know he doesn't want to photograph you, Hassan? ;-) LOL! I do admit I was only thinking of female belly dancers when I posted. Dunno why. I truly appreciate the men in our community.
This guy does want people to come to his studio to collaborate on some sort of "expressive art therapy," whatever that is. I suppose one of the ladies could find out where said studio is located, if you're really interested.
By the way, I noticed he just changed his listing from Larry Evans to Dr. L, And his picture shows him at closer to his current age than as he was 30 years ago. -

Re: Some Guy Named Larry
Wed, December 27, 2006 - 5:34 PMLadies,
Good on you all being so vigilant! I've seen this creep around a few times since I've been on Tribe and this is the first time I've heard of him getting "real" with anyone. I've gotten a few friend requests from him and always turn them down...I always remember the two photos in his profile and that he has no personal info listed.
If anyone needs photos...I'm more than glad to oblige, look in my profile for the ones I did for Amara (first few pages).
Be safe!!
Blessings!

Re: Some Guy Named Larry
Wed, December 27, 2006 - 2:41 PMWell, he joined this tribe-along with another creepy-looker. However-if you decide to pay a visit-you'll have to take Jonathan. He REALLY wants to skin this guy for contacting me.
Can we say-EEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWW -

Re: Some Guy Named Larry
Wed, December 27, 2006 - 2:55 PMOK I booted him off of this tribe. I changed the membership to moderated. Which means no body can just join they have to submit a request to join and then I have to OK it. I hate to do that since I have enough things to do with my spare time but I think it will be a good thing for a little while. Like I said I don't care if people try to hook up I just don't want them using my name to do it. I personally think there are better places to do that then here. I think part of the attraction is that this is a Kansas City tribe and therefor a hometown tribe for him. I suppose I'd rather be modrating stuff like this than flame wars. So thanks everyone for being so nice on this tribe.

If you keep getting invites from him and don't want to see them anymore, just block him.
Go to his profile page, look under his avatar photo and click the "more options" button. Then click ignore. You won't get emails or friend invites from him anymore. -

Thu, December 28, 2006 - 2:52 PMThank you. I didn't see that option. I will go do it now.

Re: Some Guy Named Larry
Fri, December 29, 2006 - 8:10 AMI don't know if Larry is OK, but I can say he's never asked anything more of me than to be his friend on tribe.
No strange e-mails or requests for photos ... but then Hassan is my husband and my profile says as much. Maybe that's why he's a bit more respectful. As a side note, when I said yes to his friend invite, I did so cause Layla was on his friends at that time.

Re: Some Guy Named Larry
Fri, December 29, 2006 - 9:09 AMHe actually told me that Layla had sent him to me, which was a creepy lie. Definitely not cool for him to use her like that. I'm glad he's not on this tribe anymore. -
